PROPHETS GUIDANCE ON EVIL-EYE, MAGIC/SIHR, RUQYA AND PROPHETIC MEDICINE

As a cure for such evils, Allah has told us to use the words of the Quran. Such a treatment, also referred to as Ruqyah, using Allah’s words from the Quran and prayers both from the Quran and the Ahadith to seek protection from and to treat a person. Allah says in the Quran, “And We send down from the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe…” [Quran 17:82]

"Say: it is for those who believe, a guidance and a cure". [Quan 41:44]

It is a sunnah, due to the saying of A'isha (R):  "When the Messenger of Allah was sick, Jibril performed ruqya on him.  (Muslim).

The prophet (SWS) said:  "Present to me your Ruqyas,  there is no harm in using Ruqya so long as there is no Shirk in it(Muslim)

Proof For The Reality Of The Evil-Eye

Sahih Muslim narrated that Ibn Abaas Radi Allaho Anh reported that the Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said:

"The evil eye is true, and if there is anything that would precede pre-destination, it would be the evil eye".

The two sound books narrated that Abu Hurayrah Radi Allaho Anh said that the Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said, "The evil eye is true".

In addition, Tirmizi narrated that Asma Bint Umays Radi Allaho Anha said, "O Messenger of Allah, the children of Ja'far (Radi Allaho Anh) are usually touched by the evil eye. Should I perform an Islamic prayer formula for them"? He said: "Yes. If there is anything that precedes Predestination, it would be the evil eye.

Abu Dawood reported that Aishah Radi Allaho Anha said: "The person who touched others with the evil eye was commanded to perform ablution and the person whom he touched by the evil eye would wash himself with that water".

Imam Malik narrated;

"The evil eye is true, so perform ablution for it".

Another Hadith narrated by Abdul Razzaq reads: "The evil eye is true, and if there is anything that precedes Predestination, it would be the evil eye. When one is touched by the evil eye, he should take a bath for it".

Narrated by Jabir Bin Abdullah Radi Allaho Anh, "The Evil Eye can take a person into grave (can cause death), & takes the camel into the cooking pot (meaning death)".

Umm Salamah Radi Allaho Anha said that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam once saw a young girl, who had a certain expression on her face and said: "Seek an Islamic prayer formula for her, because she is touched by the evil eye". [Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Naim & Tabarani]

Abu Said Radi Allaho Anh narrated that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam used to seek refuge from the Jinn and the evil eye of mankind. [Tirmizi and Nasa'ii]

Some people who do not have sound comprehension or correct sight and hearing have rejected the fact that the evil eye causes harm, claiming that this is a superstitious, untrue belief. These people are indeed among the most ignorant people who have the least sound comprehension and the weakest of minds. They are the farthest from acquiring knowledge of the soul and the heart and the effect of each on the natural world.

The best minds in every nation do not dispute the fact that the evil eye is true, although they differ on its causes and true effects. Some people say that when people who touch others by the evil eye feel evilness in their hearts, then their eyes transform the evil thoughts into harmful rays just like the type of snake that looks at its prey and causes it to perish.

Another group says that it is possible that invisible powers emit from the person who touches others with the evil eye and then enters the body of the person whom they touched and harms them.

However, other people say that Allah Creates the harm on the person touched by the evil eye without any rays that emit from the eye of the person who touched him; yet, this is the method of those who deny the existence of the various spiritual powers that exist in this world. Allah Has Created special powers in some of the creation that have profound effects on other creations. For instance, the soul has such a profound effect on the body that no one can deny. In addition, have you not noticed how the face of a shy person turns red if his sight falls on what is not suitable for him, and turns yellow when he looks at someone he fears? You can in addition witness the effect of the evil eye has on people and the weakness it causes in their bodies.

The evil eye is actually the effect exerted by the soul on the victim. Souls vary in their essence, powers, characteristics and qualities. Therefore, the soul of an envious person can harm a victim profoundly, and this is why Allah Has Commanded His Messenger to seek refuge with Him from the evil eye.

The harmful effect of an envious person on the envied person can't be denied, except by those who are far away from reality. It is a fact that an evil envious soul touches the envied person in such an evil manner that it causes them harm. Similarly, the poisonous viper (snake) gets so enraged and evil when it meets the enemy that it has a special effect on the victim, sometimes leading to aborting the fetus or causing blindness. Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam described the short tailed viper and the striped viper as having the ability that they can affect sight and abort pregnancy. Some types of snakes have a negative effect on people by their mere sight, because of the viciousness of such creatures and the effect of this viciousness on people.

These effects that we mentioned are not restricted to physical contact, as some of those who have little knowledge in the natural world and the religion think. Rather, these effects could be caused by physical contact, sight, the soul directing its power to the victim, through imagination and evil omens, and so forth.

The envious person might be blind, yet when something is described to him or her, his envious soul affects the described object and harms it even though the blind person cannot see it. Allah said to His Messenger :

وَإن يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُواْ الذِّكْرَ

"And verily, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes (through hatred) when they bear the Reminder (the Quran)" (69:51)

Furthermore, Allah Said :

Say: “I seek refuge with (Allah); the Lord of the daybreak, from the evil of what He Has Created. And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away), and from the evil of those who practice witchcraft when they blow in the knots. And from the evil of the envier when he envies".

Every person who touches others by the evil eye is an envious person, but not vice versa. Since envy includes the evil eye in its general meaning, seeking refuge from it includes seeking refuge from the evil eye.

The evil eye includes throwing arrows of envy that depart the envious heart and soul in the direction of the envied person, sometimes falling on its target. If the envied person is unarmed, the evil eye will cause him harm. If the envied person is prepared to defend himself and he is armed, the arrows might turn back on the one who threw them. This is similar to what actually occurs when one shoots real arrows. The resemblance is that this occurs through the soul while the arrows are shot in the material world. The evil eye starts when the envious person likes something, then follows it with his evil thoughts and desires and then the evil eye touches the envied object.

Sometimes a person might even touch his own self with the evil eye, which is one of the worst types of envy. Sometimes, one might touch others with the evil eye just by his envious nature. Some of our scholars say that such envious people should be imprisoned and should be given what they need of sustenance until they die.

Comparing the Prophetic medicine to regular medicine that doctors use is just like comparing the doctor’s medicine to folk medicines. Rather, the comparison is even less appropriate, for the difference between the Prophets and doctors is profoundly greater than the difference between the doctors and those who are not qualified to practice medicine. You should have discovered by now the brotherly relation between religion and wisdom, and that they never contradict each other. Allah Guides whom He Wills to the straight path and opens the doors of success to those who knock on such doors. He Alone is the Source of all bounties and irrefutable proofs.

Prophet's Guidance On Treatment For The Evil-Eye

Treating The Evil Eye - Method 1 (concealing your blessing's)

Fighting the evil eye is more likely to be successful if one conceals his blessings, adornment and other forms of beauty which one fears maybe be afflicted with the evil eye.  (see Al-Baghawi's Sharh us-Sunnah - 13/116, Zaad Al - Ma'ad  4/173.

For instance, Al-Baghawi narrated that once Usman Radi Allaho Anh saw a handsome boy and commanded, "Blacken his chin so that the evil eye does not touch him".

Al-Khattabi narrated in Gharib ul Hadith, "It was narrated that Usman Radi Allaho Anh once saw a handsome boy and that he said, "Hide his cleft chin with black color". Usman Radi Allaho Anh wanted to hide the cleft chin of the handsome boy using black color so that he was not touched by the evil eye.

If the person fears that he might touch other people by the evil eye, let him fend off its harm by saying

Allahumma Baarik Alaihe (May Allah Bless him), Masha'Allah (what Allah Has Willed), La Quwwata illa Billah (There is no power except from Allah) also helps fend off the evil eye. Hisham bin Urwah narrated that his father used to say, "What Allah Wills will certainly come to pass, there is no power except from Allah" upon seeing something that he likes and upon entering one of his gardens.

This supplication is in with accordance with the saying of the prophet (SWS), "If one of you observes something in your brother that pleases you, supplicate that he may be blessed. (Malik - Muwatta 2/938, Ibn Majah - 2/1160, Ahmed 4/447,

Treating The Evil Eye - Method 2 (fortifying ones protections)

Fortiying ones protection through legal forms of remembrance, supplications and seeking refuge in Allah (SWT) as has already been mentioned in detail under the section Daily Protections.  Plz go to the section Daily Protections on this website, were you can see all of the short Quranic verses and duas's that are easy to memorise, but very important  for every Muslim.

Treating The Evil Eye - Method 3 (performing ablution)

In addition, Imam Malik narrated that Amir bin Rabee'ah Radi Allaho Anh once saw Sahl bin Hunaif take a bath and said, "By Allah! I have never observed the skin of a person that is softer than what I have just seen". Sahl fell to the ground. Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam then came to Amir while angry and said to him: "Why would one of you kill his own brother? Why have you not said Tabarak Allah, (may Allah bless it) ? Take a bath for it". Amir then washed his face, hands, elbows, knees, feet and a part of his garment in a pot for what he had done and then poured the used water on Sahl. Soon after, Sahl started moving about with the people. [Ibn Majah, Ahmad].

Zuhri said: "The person who touched others with the evil eye should be commanded to submerge his hand in a pot of water and then wash his mouth, then spit the water back into the pot. He should then wash his face in the pot, then submerges his left hand in it and pour some water on the right knee above the pot, and then submerge his right hand and pour water on his left knee. He should then wash his garment inside the pot and the water should not be spilled on the ground. Rather, it should be poured on top of the person whom he touched by the evil eye from behind all at once".

In addition, the person who touches other people with the evil eye should be commanded to wash his limbs and the end of his garments, from the right side. He then pours the water on the head of the person whom he touched with the evil eye from behind him without notice. This is a type of cure that the doctors cannot produce with their medicine. Those who reject such type of Islamic prayer formulas would never benefit from it because they do not believe that the Islamic prayer formulas carry any benefit.

Since the doctors cannot explain many natural occurrences in this world, why would the hypocrites among them reject such powers and affects that the religion produces? Added to this is the fact that washing with water has a real benefit, experience testifies to its usefulness. Similarly, the anger will be washed away from the heart if one places his hand on the angry person’s chest. This is similar to confronting a man who is carrying a lit torch that he wants to throw at you, but you keep pouring water on it while it is still in his hand until you extinguish it. This is why Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam commanded the person who touches people by the evil eye to ask Allah, to bless whatever he has envied, so that the evil thoughts that he feels go away and are replaced by the supplication, which is a type of good charity. The cure should be compatible to the disease, so that it has an affect on it. It is possible that when one touches others by the evil eye, a certain power appears on the end of his garment, and that it is then transferred to the affected person or object. When it is washed by water, the evil power will be removed. Yet again, and as we have stated, this matter has a lot to do with evil spirits, which will be stopped from producing harm if washed by water. Washing with water serves to cool the heart and thus cures the person who was about to touch others with the evil eye. Sometimes, when a poisonous insect bites someone and then the insect is killed, the bitten person feels a little relief afterwards. In short, when the person who touches others with the evil eye is washed, the evil that he thought of or felt will be washed away with the water.

If someone asks, "if washing with water helps the aggressor, then what about the victim of the evil eye" ?

We say that pouring the water on victims of the evil eye helps cool the effect (of the evil eye) on the victim just as it extinguished the veiled thoughts from the aggressor's heart. Water, which is used to cool burning iron rods, is often used as a medicine with which the doctors would concur. It is natural that the same water used to extinguish the evil eye is used to rid the victim of the evil eye of its effect.

Treating The Evil Eye - Method 2 (performing islamic ruqya)

Further, Aishah Radi Allaho Anha narrated, as the Sahihain reported: "Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam commanded me, or commanded that we should use Islamic prayer formulas for the evil eye.

In addition, Muslim narrated that Anas Radi Allaho Anh reported "Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam has allowed using Islamic prayer formulas (Ruqyah ~ The Divine Remedy) against fever, the evil eye and sores".

Abu Dawood narrated that Sahl Ibn Hunaif said:

"We come by a water spot and I went in it and took a bath, but when I finished, I came down with a fever. When the Messenger of Allah was informed, he said, Command Abu Thabit to seek refuge (with Allah for Sahl) with an Islamic prayer formula. I said, "O my master! Does an Islamic prayer formula bring about benefit? He said, There is no Islamic prayer formula except to fend off an evil eye and against fever and a (snake or a scorpion) bite.’ [In addition, Al-Hakirn narrated this Hadith].

There are several types of Islamic prayer formulas, such as reciting FATIHAH ~ the first chapter in the Quran, the Mu’awwathatain ~ Surah Falaq & Surah Naas (last 2 chapters 113 and 114 of Quran) and Ayat Al-Kursi (2:255) and the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah as well as the below prescribed supplications by reciting them, lightly spitting and wiping over the affliction with the right hand or if reciting on someone then lightly spitting and blowing on them while reciting, repeating the verses 3 - 7 or more times.   You may also recite over a glass of water lightly spitting into it and thereafter the afflicted person should drink from it pouring the remainder over his head. (Sunan Abu Dawood 4/10, in which the prophet (SWS) did as mentioned to Thabit ibn Qais (R)).  Or one may recite over olive oil and anoint the afflicted person with it (Musnad Ahmed 3/497, see Silsilah al Hadith al Sahihah 11108 (379).  It is better if the water is rain water or from the well of zamzam, but of course only if such water is acquired without difficulty.

In addition, there are several types of Prophetic Islamic prayer formulas. For instance, one might recite:

"أعوذُ بكلماتِ اللهِ التامَّاتِ مِن شرِّ ما خَلق".

"I seek refuge with Allah’s Prefect Words from the evil of what He has created".

In addition, one could recite:

"أعوذُ بكلماتِ اللهِ التامَّةِ، مِن كُلِّ شيطانٍ وهامَّةٍ، ومِن كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لامَّةٍ".

I seek refuge with Allah’s Prefect Words from every devil and evil soul and from every evil Eye".

Also, one might recite,

"أَعُوذُ بكلماتِ اللهِ التامَّةِ مِن غضبه وعِقَابه، ومِن شرِّ عباده، ومِن هَمَزات الشياطينِ وأن يَحضُرونِ".

"I seek refuge with Allah’s Perfect Words from His Anger and torment, from the evil of His slaves and from the whispers of the devils or that they might attend me".

In addition, angel Jibreel once said an Islamic prayer formula for Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam, which Muslim narrated in his sound book:

"باسمِ اللهِ أَرْقِيكَ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ يُؤذيكَ، مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ نفسٍ أو عَيْنِ حَاسدٍ اللهُ يَشفِيكَ، باسمِ اللهِ أرْقِيكَ".

"In the Name of Allah, I say Islamic prayer formulas for your benefit, from every illness that might harm you and from the evil of every evil soul or envious person’s eye. Allah Will Cure you. In the Name of Allah, I say Islamic prayer formulas for your benefit. [Tirmizi and An-Nasa'ii]

Those who try these different types of supplications and Islamic prayer formulas will surely understand their great value and benefit, and consequently, will recognize the great need for them. These supplications will shield one from the effects of the evil eye and will fend off its harm if the evil eye touched them, but according to the degree of Faith, strength of soul, degree of reliance (on Allah) and strength of heart of whoever recites them. These supplications are types of weapons, and their effectiveness depends on the skill of whoever uses them.

Treating The Evil Eye - Method 5 ( writing verses and using to drink with)

Some of our rightly guided ancestors stated that there is no harm if some Ayah (Verse) from the Quran were written in ink and then washed with water and that the sick person drinks that water. Mujahid issued a statement to that fact, and so did Abu Qilabah. It was reported that Ibn Abbas Radi Allaho Anh once commanded that two verses from the Quran to be written for a woman who had hard pregnancies and that the Verses were then washed with water and she was to drink the water. In addition, Ayyub said, "I saw Abu Qilabah write some verses from the Quran, wash it with water and then give the water to a person who was suffering from some type of illness to drink it".  The written verses should consist of the above mentioned Quranic verses and supplications.

Treating The Evil Eye - Method 6

Another Islamic prayer formula that helps ward off the evil eye was related by Abu Abdullah, he was once traveling for Hajj or Jihad using a good animal. There was a man in the caravan who would never look at something but would bring it to its demise. Abu Abdullah was then told, "Preserve your camel from this man’s eye. He said, "My camel cannot be touched by harm". The person who touched with the evil eye was informed of Abu Abdullah's response and he waited for a chance when Abu Abdullah was not present and looked at the camel which soon fell on its feet. When Abu Abdullah came and was told that the person had touched it with the evil eye and that his camel was suffering, as was evident, he said, ‘Show me the man.’ When he came by him, he said,

"In the Name of Allah, a restraint that restrains, a hard rock and a blazing star: I ask that the evil eye returns to the person who started it and on the dearest people to him (meaning the envious person himself. Then look again: Can you see any rifts? Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and wow out" (67:3, 4)

Then, the person known for the evil eye lost his sight and the camel was cured.

Proof For The Reality Of Sorcery/Magic/Sihr

The Quran states:   "Moses said, What do you say this to the truth, when it has come to you?  Is this sorcery?  But sorcerers do not prosper. [ 11:77 ]

Then when they had cast, Moses said, 'What you have brought is sorcery; Allah will assuredly bring it to naught.  Allah sets not right the work of those who do corruption.  Allah verifies the truth by His words, though sinners be averse'. [11:81-82]

Say: 'I take refuge with the lord of the daybreak from the evil of what He has created, from the evil of darkness when it gathers, from the evil of the women who blow on knots, from the evil of an envier when he envies'. [chapter 113]

In the Sahihain, it is narrated that Aishah Radi Allaho Anha said:

"The Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam was affected by SEHR ~ sorcery until he thought that he had slept with his wives, while in fact he did not".

This is the worst type of magical spell.

Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam used two methods to treat sorcery, first by finding the spell and neutralizing it. Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam supplicated to his Lord and Allah Showed him that the evil spell was hidden in a well. Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam removed the evil spell, which consisted of a comb, combed material (hair) and a dry male spathe. When he discarded these objects, he was immediately cured, as if he was restrained and then suddenly released. This is the best cure from sorcery and is similar to removing septic materials by complete disgorging.

The second type, extracting harmful substances from the organ is most touched by magic works. Evil spells aggravate nature, produce harmful substances and adversely affect the mood. Disgorging the alien substance (that affected a certain organ as a result of evil spells) becomes necessary.

Abu Ubaid has mentioned in his book, on the authority of Abdul Rahman Bin Abi Layla that Prophet Muhammad Sallalllaho Alaihe Wasallam had HIJAMAH performed on his head by a thorn when he was affected by Tubb, & Abu Ubaid says that Tubb means magic.

Some people have erroneously denied that SEHR ~ sorcery (magic) could affect Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam; they believed that it was not befitting his grade and status. Actually, being effected by SEHR ~ sorcery illustrates the human side of the Prophet, just like he suffered from various other illnesses, and sorcery is an ailment just like poison.

Qazi Eyadh said, SEHR ~ sorcery is just like any other ailment that our beloved Prophet had suffered from, and this fact by no means affects his status as a Prophet. Furthermore, the fact that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam had imagined something which he did not perform, does not detract from his truthfulness regarding religion; there is a consensus that he is immune from error in this regard. SEHR ~ sorcery is just like any other matter of this life, which has nothing to do with the reason why he was sent and preferred above mankind. Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam was subject to come down with all types of ailments that would touch other people. Therefore, it is not surprising that he would imagine doing something which in fact he did not do, and that he was soon cured.

Further, the magic spell only affected our beloved Prophet’s senses; not his sanity or heart. This is why he did not believe what he imagined of sleeping with his wives because he knew that this sensation was not real.

                                                      Prophetic Guidance On Treating Sorcery

Treating Sorcery - Method 1 (fortifying ones protections)

Fortiying ones protection through legal forms of remembrance, supplications, Quranic verses and seeking refuge in Allah (SWT) as has already been mentioned in detail under the section Daily Protections. Plz go to the section Daily Protections on this website, were you can see all of the short Quranic verses and duas's that are easy to memorise, but are very important for every Muslim.

Establishing all that is obligatory, abstaining from all that is prohibited and repenting from all sins.

The consumption of seven dates on awaking (before breakfast) as often as possible as the prophet (SWS) said "Whoever begins the morning with consumption of seven ajwa dates will not be afflicted with poisoning or sorcery (on that day).  (Al-Bukhari (with al-Fat'h) and Muslim).

Treating Sorcery - Method 2 (finding the source of sorcery)

Through the physical removel and nullification of the sorcery source if its whereabouts is known, albeit through permissible means prescribed by the shari'ah, this being the most effective method of treating the affected individual.  (see Zaad Al-Ma'ad 4/124, Al-Bukhari with Al-Fath, Muslim 4/1917.

Treating Sorcery - Method 3 (preforming islamic ruqya)

The recitation of FATIHAH ~ the first chapter in the Quran, the Mu’awwathatain ~ Surah Falaq & Surah Naas (last 2 chapters 113 and 114 of Quran) and Ayat Al-Kursi (2:255) and the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah as well as the above  prescribed supplications by reciting them all 3 / 7 (or more) times, lightly spitting and wiping over face with the right hand or if reciting on someone then lightly spitting and blowing on them while reciting.  The supplications and Quranic verses mentioned below in the section using sidr leaves can also be added. There are many other verses etc used in treating sorcery, for more details refer to books on ruqya.

Treating Sorcery - Method 4 (hijama - cupping)

Seeking the extraction of the affliction through the process of cupping either the area or the bodily member (as much as possible) where the effect of sorcery has made itself manifest is very beneficial.

Ibn al-Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy on him) mentions that the Messenger (SWS) was cupped on his head when he was afflicted with magic and that it is from the best of cures for this if performed correctly. [Zaad al Ma'aad (4/125-126)].

Treating Sorcery - Method 5 (natural remedies)

Natural remedies, of which there are many that are beneficial and prescribed by the purifying Quran and Sunnah, on condition that the treatment is greeted with the certainty and truth by the patient, whereby he wholeheartedly believes the the remedy benefits with the permision of Allah (SWT) and that all benefit lies with him in the end.  Some of these include: Honey, Black seed, Zamzam Water, Rain Water, Olive Oil, Ajwa, Costus, Senna Leaves, Sidr Leaves, Misk and Lubaan.  Below in the treating with medicine section there are details on how some of theses remedies can be applied.  Reciting ruqya over them will InshaAllah increase the healing affect and  Allah (SWT) knows best.

A Hadith [narrated by Ibn Majah and others] stated that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said:

علَيْكُم بالشِّفَاءَيْنِ‏:‏ العَسَلِ والقُرآنِ

"Make use of the two cures: Honey and the Quran".

This Hadith joins the material and the divine cures, the medicine of the body and the soul, the earthly medicine and the heavenly cure.

Treating Evil-Eye, Sorcery and Illnesses With Prophetic Medicine's

Using Sidr Leaves

Using the Sidr: A group of scholars claim that Sidr is an effective cure of magic, Allah Willing.

Al-Hafez bin Hajar said in Al-Fath that Ibn Abtal stated in the books of Wahab bin Menabah to take seven leaves of a green Sidr, grind them with two rocks, add water to it, read the verse of Al-Korsi and Al-Qawakil, take three sips, then wash up with the rest. This will remove all of his afflictions, and is a cure for men who have sexual disorders (Fath Al-Bari -10/233).

Al-Lalkaii said that Mohamed ibn Othman related that Said bin Mohamed Al-Hanat stated: ''Ishaq ibn Abi Israel said ' I heard Sufyan says that Sulayman ibn Omaya (Sheikhh of Thaqif) ibn Masoud heard Aisha advise a woman to use Sidr and water to wash the traces of magic (Sharh Usul Itiqad Ahl Al-Sunah wa Al-Jamaa -7/1288).

Sheikhh Abdullah bin Abdelrahman Al-Jibrin stated '' I used Ruqya on relatives and friends who were not able to have intercourse with their wives following what Ibn Kathir said. I used Sidr leaves and recited the verses he mentioned and they were cured, Allah Willing.''

It is worth mentioning that using the water of Sidr in the stated manner has a great effect, and lots of therapists are aware of this fact. However, its benefit is not only confined to men who cannot have intercourse with his wives, but also includes those afflicted with epilepsy, evil eye and magic in general (used for washing only).

If you are sure that what has afflicted you is magic, then I advise you to perform Islamically lawful ruqyah upon yourself. There is no restriction on who can do this, since ruqyah is merely a form of supplication, and supplications are not restricted to certain people to the exclusion of others. It would be better for the afflicted person to perform ruqyah on himself. He should put his trust in Allah and recite the selected verses until he recovers.

Sheikh `Abd al-`Azîz b. Bâz (with some addition) advised the following excellent advice that I would like to share with you:

A Muslim should protect himself from all harm by reading the supplications and remembrances that the Prophet (peace be upon him) advised everyone to read in the day and night for protection.

These recommended supplications and remembrances include:

a. Reciting Ayah al-Kursî (2/255) upon the completion of each prayer after saying the recommended remembrances.

b. To say every morning and evening Three times: “In the name of Allah, in whose name nothing can bring harm in the Earth and in the heavens, and He is the all Hearer and the all Knower.”

These remembrances will protect the Muslim from being harmed by magic and will remove it in case he is smitten by it.

One of the most famous supplication of the Prophet (peace be upon him) which he would recite to cure his Companions of magic and other illnesses is: “O Lord of the People, remove the affliction, cure as you are the One who cures, there is no cure save from You, a cure that will not leave any illness behind.” It should be repeated three times.

Then there is the ruqyah used by the angel Gabriel which he performed on the Prophet (peace be upon him): “By the name of Allah, I perform this ruqyah on you against anything that hurts you, from any evil of any person, from the eye of jealousy. Allah cures you; by the name of Allah I perform this ruqyah over you.” It is also to be repeated three times.

To remove magic that has afflicted someone, which is especially useful if a man cannot approach his wife for intercourse as a result of magic, is to take seven pieces of the green leaves of the lotus tree (sidr leaves) and crush (grinde) them in a bowl between two stones / rocks  and place them with the leaves into the bowl.  Pour enough water therein to wash the body, remove the rocks and then recite over this the verses below:  (
After reading all this over the water in the bowl, drink some of it (three sips) then wash yourself with the rest. This procedure may be done two times or more until the magic is removed. You can repeat each verse or dua 3 to 7 times for more effect.  Other verses can also be added, for more information refer to the books on ruqya.

The following verses about magic in Sûrah al-A`râf: “We revealed to Moses 'Throw thy rod' and behold, it swallowed up all the falsehoods which they concocted. Thus the truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. So they were vanquished there and then and were humiliated.” (7/117-119)

The following verses in Sûrah Yûnus: “Said Pharaoh: 'Bring me every sorcerer well versed'. When the sorcerers came, Moses said to them: 'Cast what you will cast.' When they had casted what they had to case, Moses said: 'What you have brought is sorcery: Allah will surely make it of no effect: for Allah does not make good the work of those who make mischief. And Allah by his words does prove and establish the truth, however much the sinners may hate it.” (10/79-82)

The following verses in Sûrah Tâ-Hâ: “They said: 'O Moses, will you cast or will we be the first to cast?' He said: 'Nay, cast ye first.' Then their ropes and their rods seemed to him on account of their magic like they were in motion. So Moses conceived in his mind a (sort of) fear. We said: 'Fear not, for you have indeed the upper hand. Throw that which is in your right hand. Quickly will it swallow up that which they have crafted, for what they have faked is but a magician’s trick: and the magician succeeds not'." (20/65-69).

There is another method to remove magic which is one of the best methods when it is possible. This is to know the place where the magic item is. Normally magic will be carried out using some belongings of the victim, such as a few hairs, nails, or other personal objects which are then placed inside a knot of cloth and hidden. This should be taken out and destroyed.

All the above Quranic Verses and dua's can also be read and then blown into your palms with spittle and wiped over your face,

head, body and areas of pain.  This can be done as much as needed.  These verses and dua's can also be read over Olive and

Blackseed Oil,  Honey, Costus, ZamZam water, Senna, Ajwa Dates, Sidr Leaves, Talbina, Lubaan, Misk,

Water etc and use as advised.  Hijama (cupping) is also proven to be very effective.  There also maybe other natural

medicines that are used, we have mentioned some.  You have to put your complete trust in Allah (SWT)  and believe InshaAllah

you will be cured using the Prophetic Ruqya and Medicines that have been mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah.

Using BlackSeed OIL

Aisha (may Allah be pleased wih her) said that she heard the Messenger (SWS) say, "This black seed is a cure for every disease except death". [Saheeh al-Bukhari (5687)].

Khalid bin Sa'd (R) said, "We went out and with us was Ghalib bin Abjar y. He fell sick along the way and when we came to al-    Madinah, he was sick. Ibn Abu 'Atiq (R) came to visit him and said to us, ‘You should use this black seed. Take five or seven (seeds) and grind them then apply them to his nostrils with drops of olive oil on this side and on this side for Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to them that she heard the Messenger (SWS) say, "This black seed is a cure for every disease except death". [Saheeh Sunan ibn Majah (3449)].

The above mentioned Qaranic verses and dua's should be read over blackseed oil to make it more effective and then the oil should be massaged over affected parts of your body, including your head and areas of pain etc or as advised.  It can also be taken as a drink by mixing it with water and honey etc.

Using Olive Oil

Indeed, Allah Ta'ala has mentioned the Olive tree as being blessed as well; "a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous.." [surah 24: 35] bn Umar recorded the well-known hadith "use olive oil and anoint yourself with it, because it is 'from a blessed tree'" [al-Bayhaqi]

Saied al-Ansari narrates that Rasulullah (SAW) said: “Eat the olive oil and massage it over your bodies since it is a blessed tree.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

The above mentioned Qaranic verses and dua's should be read over olive oil to make it more effective and then the oil should be massaged all over your body, including your hair and areas of pain etc or as advised.  It can also be taken as a drink by mixing it with water.

Using Honey

Honey ('asal) is a sweet golden syrup that comes from the natural nectar extracted from flowers by bees. It has great healing benefits and is mentioned in both the Qur'an and Prophetic Hadeeth."And thy Lord taught the bee to build its cells in hills, on trees and in (men's) habitations…. there emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colours, in which there is a healing for people. Verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought".[Soorah Nahl: 68-69].

Also, the Messenger (Sallallaahu alayhi Wasallam) said, "There is a cure in three substances, a drink of honey…" [Saheeh al-Bukhari (5356)].

The above Quranic verses and Dua's should be read over the honey to make it more effective.  A spoon of honey mixed in warm water (ruqya water for more benefit) can be taken in the morning on a empty stomach. Also blackseed oil or 7 blackseeds or the blackseed oil can also be added.

Using Senna

Senna is regarded as one of the most beneficial laxative medicines narrated from the Prophet . If the substance used for witchcraft is still inside the body, attempts must be made to get rid of it, either by vomiting, if possible, or if the patient cannot do that, he should be given a drink of senna. Many of those who were afflicted with witchcraft have tried it and it has been of great benefit by Allaah's Leave.

The sick person should go ang get a table spoon full of senna and put it  in a vessel containing a liter of water.  This should be boiled on the fire for 10-15 minutes, then strained and left to cool.  Then the sick person should drink 3 cups of it on an empty stomach before breakfast in the morning.  Honey can be added to sweeten it.  After that the sick person shall experience a strong loosening of the bowels.  The effects of the drink should appear within seven hours and last up to twenty two hours, and maybe accompanied by a mild stomachache but without any infection in the intestines.  When the senna drink begins to take effect, he will void all the dirt that is in the stomach and thus the substance used for sihr will be expelled - if Allah wills.  This has been tried in many cases and has been beneficial, by the bounty and grace of Allah (from the book the jinn & human sickness)

Before drinking the senna it will be more beneficial to recite ruqya over the drink, blowing into it with   spittle using Quranic verses and dua's from the prophetic narrations.  The verses and dua's mentioned in the sidr leaves section may be recited over the drink or you may want to refer to any ruqya books which have a collection of verses and dua's.  Some may advise taking the drink for 3 days consistently and if u have stomach pain, feel sick and experience headaches then continue for around up to 7 days unless symptoms stop before.  Then you should not take the senna for around 2-3 weeks and thereafter take it once a week.   For general health you can take senna once a month and for constipation take it 5 days consistently.

Using Talbina

Hisham's father said, "Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to recommend talbina and used to say, 'It is disliked (by the patient) although it is beneficial''' [Saheeh al-Bukhari (5326)].

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated, "If any of the Messenger's (SWS) family became ill, the Messenger (SWS) would say, 'It (talbina) soothes the grieving heart and cleanses the ailing heart just as one of you cleans dirt off his face with water'. " [Saheeh Sunan ibn Maajah (3445), hadeeth hasan].

Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger (SWS) said, "You should eat the beneficial thing that is unpleasant to eat (Talbina), meaning broth. If any member of the Messenger of Allah's (SWS) family was sick, the cooking pot would remain on the fire until one of two things happened, either the person recovered or died". [Saheeh Sunan ibn Maajah (3446) hadeeth hasan].

Using ZamZam Water

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The best water on the face of the earth is the water of Zamzam; it is a kind of food and a healing from sickness." (Saheeh al-Jaami', 3302).

It was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) drank it, did wudoo' with it and poured it on his head. He used to carry Zamzam water in small vessels and large containers in order to pour it on the sick and give it to them to drink. (al-Silsilat al- Saheehah, 883).

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for." (Narrated by Ibn Maajah)

The Messenger of Allah, salallahu alayhe wa sallam has said:" The most sublime of all earthly waters is that of zamzam; therein one finds food for the hungry and medicine for the ill." [ At- Tabarani ]

"Zamzam water is what one intends to drink it for. When one drinks it to be healed, Allah heals him; when one drinks it to be full, Allah makes him full; and when one drinks it to quench his thrist, Allah quenches it. " [ Ahmad, and Ibn Majah]

Using Hijama (cupping)

Seeking the extraction of the affliction through the process of cupping either the area or the bodily member (as much as possible) where the effect of sorcery has made itself manifest is very beneficial.

Ibn al-Qaiyum (may Allah have mercy on him) mentions that the Messenger (SWS) was cupped on his head when he was afflicted with magic and that it is from the best of cures for this if performed correctly. [Zaad al Ma'aad (4/125-126)].

Extracting harmful substances from the organ that is most touched by magic works.

SEHR ~ sorcery is a combination of the powers of evil spirits and the adverse effects they have on the normal functions of the body. The worst type of magic is that which affects the senses of the affected organ. Drawing blood from the organ most affected by magic is the most beneficial cure, if used in the proper manner.

Some people also said that when Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam suffered from this condition, he first thought that it was caused by spoiled blood that reached the brain and affected the senses. In such cases, HJAMAH ~ cupping is the best medicine, and this is what Prophet Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam did. Then, when Allah Revealed to him that it was the effect of magic that caused his condition, he asked Allah to Show him where the evil spell was hidden; and then he retrieved and discarded it. When he did so, he was cured as if released after being restrained.

Using Costus - Qust al-Hindi/Qust al-Bahri

It was narrated that Umm Qays bint Mihsan said: I heard the Prophet say:

"You should use the Indian incense [al-'ud al-hindi] for in it is healing for seven diseases. It may be taken in the form of

nose drops for trouble in the throat or given in the side of the mouth for pleurisy."

Nose drops made of Indian costus may be used to annoy stubborn jinn [who has possessed a person and is not

    easly

expelled]. The patient should take it in through the nose, so that the costus goes straight to the brain where      the jinn is located,

and he will be greatly annoyed by it, so much so that he will not be able to bear it and will hasten to flee, or he will talk to the

practitioner and promise to leave and not come back. The Sunnah mentions the virtues of Indian costus, such as in the report

narrated by Al-Bukhaari (may Allah have mercy on him) in his Saheeh:

How to administer nose drops made of Indian costus

An Uqiyah of Indian costus should be ground to a powder.

In Fath Al-Baari, Ibn Hajar described how to use Indian costus. He said: The patient should be made to lie on his back, and

something should be placed beneath his shoulders in order to raise them, so that his head will be tipped back. Drops of

olive oil mixed with costus should then be placed in his nose so that they may reach the brain and whatever sickness is

present may be expelled by sneezing.  Usually the jinn can be expelled in this fashion.  The costus stick can also be boiled

for 10-15 minutes and drunk for maybe three nights in a row.  Also costus powder can be added to oilve oil then

    massaged

in to your skin.  Costus powder can be added to your warm water a honey drink in the mornings.  The Costus powder can also be used in ruqya baths.  These

methods have been tried and have worked well against removing the jinn and curing sorcery.

Using Ajwa Dates

Ajwa ( عجوة ) is a soft dry variety of date fruit from Saudi Arabia. It is cultivated at Madinah Munawwara. A delightfully soft and fruity date with fine texture.Narrated by Saud; the Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "If Somebody takes seven 'ajwa dates in the morning, neither magic nor poison will hurt him that day." [Sahih Bukhari, Book #71, Hadith #664 (also 663, 672)]

The Messenger (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "Ajwa dates are from paradise." [Tirmidhi (2068) he said hasan Saheeh and it was authenticated by Shaikh al- Albaani]

Referring to eating seven Ajwa dates, the Messenger (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "He will not be harmed by anything until he reaches the evening." [Sahih Muslim (2047)] 'Aisha reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: "The 'ajwa' dates of 'Aliya' contain heating effects and these are antidote in the early morning." [Sahih Muslim, Book #023, Hadith 5083

There are also "imitations" or some sold an inferior quality dates and "conned" the customers as "AJWA dates" To know whether it's AJWA, look closely at the dates. There are very fine white lines on the dates.
